Gunnar Nelson vs. Ryan LaFlare added to UFC Fight Night in Dublin
The upcoming UFC Fight Night show landing on the Emerald shores of Ireland has added an interesting bout as two undefeated welterweight prospects face off when Gunnar Nelson meets Ryan LaFlare in Dublin on July 19.
While there's been no official confirmation the main event is expected to pit Ireland's son Conor McGregor against Cole Miller in a featherweight showdown. Currently, McGregor is awaiting medical clearance from knee surgery last year, but is expected to return without any incident in July. Nelson and LaFlare is likely to serve as the co-main event on the card.
Nelson (12-0-1) returns to action following a first round submission win over Omari Akhmedov at UFC Fight Night in England from March. The victory moved Nelson to 3-0 in the UFC, and one step closer towards a potential entry into the top 10 of the division.
The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under legendary coach Renzo Gracie has long been looked at as one of the best up and comers in the sport, and now he'll get a co-main event showcase to prove he belongs in the upper echelon of the division.
Hoping to do the same while derailing Nelson's undefeated streak is Ryan LaFlare (11-0), who picked up his most recent win over John Howard at UFC Fight Night in Abu Dhabi earlier this month.
The victory moved LaFlare to 4-0 in the UFC with all of his wins coming by way of unanimous decision, showcasing his dominance over the fighters he's faced thus far in his career.
This will be a big test for both fighters with either Nelson or LaFlare suffering their first loss while the winner will take a big step forward in the welterweight division.
