Great MMA Debate podcast: Chris Weidman, Alexis Davis and Frankie Edgar

Published Jun. 30, 2014 4:00 p.m. ET

The latest episode of The Great MMA Debate has arrived with another loaded guest list including UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman, top rated women's contender Alexis Davis and TUF 19's Frankie Edgar plus all new debate topics from all the news swirling around MMA today.

Weidman joins us first to talk about his upcoming title fight against Lyoto Machida while also expressing happiness and a touch of regret that his rivalry with Anderson Silva has been put to bed finally.  Weidman obsessed over beating Silva since the day he started fighting, so moving on from that chapter in his career is tough but he's ready for the next challenger in line.

He's also very ready to begin what he hopes is a long and successful reign as middleweight champion.

"I'm happy to move past and also it's kind of a bummer to move past Anderson Silva because he was a big part of my life and I was visualizing fighting that guy since I got into the sport.  He was a big motivating factor in my life for a long time," Weidman said on the show.

"Now I get to start my own era and show everybody what I'm made of."

Also on the podcast, Alexis Davis talks about the age old debate pitting her Brazilian jiu-jitsu against Ronda Rousey's Judo and how much the former Olympic medalist should be worried about getting submitted in this fight.

Frankie Edgar also drops by to discuss his fight with B.J. Penn, his season coaching on The Ultimate Fighter and looking ahead at another shot at the featherweight title.

Plus our debate will discuss in depth the recent Chael Sonnen drug testing situation, a look back at the cards from New Zealand and San Antonio and a preview of the upcoming events for UFC 175 and the TUF 19 finale.
