Giants added to end of year card

The UFC’s year-end show keeps getting bigger and bigger.

The annual spectacular is usually one of the most stacked events of the year, and the Dec. 28 edition is off to a promising start. In addition to the previously announced, highly anticipated middleweight title rematch between Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman, and the women’s bantamweight title bout between Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate, on Tuesday, the UFC added a heavyweight matchup pitting giants Travis Browne and Josh Barnett.

Browne recently vaulted all the way up to No. 5 in the UFC rankings after knocking out Alistair Overeem. That victory marked his fifth win in his last six outings, with his only blemish coming at the hands of Antonio Silva after suffering an injury during the match.

Browne is 15-1-1 overall.

Barnett recently brought his strand of destruction and mayhem into the cage, defeating former champion Frank Mir via first-round TKO at UFC 164. After years spent as an MMA mercenary, it was his first octagon win since finishing Randy Couture in March 2002. On the strength of his 33-6 career record, he’s just one slot below Browne at No. 6.

UFC 168 will emanate from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
