Flyweight prospects Ozkilic, Smolka meet at UFC Fight Night in January
A pair of intriguing flyweight prospects will throw down in Georgia.
Alptekin Ozkilic, coming off a solid first UFC victory earlier this month, will meet debuting Louis Smolka at UFC Fight Night: Rockhold vs. Philippou on Jan. 15 in Duluth, Ga., the UFC announced.
Ozkilic (9-1) bested Darren Uyenoyama by split decision at FOX UFC Saturday on Dec. 14 in Sacramento. He has won four straight and his lone career loss came against UFC fighter Chico Camus last year. Ozkilic also boasts a premier nickname – “The Turkish Delight.”
Smolka (6-0) is a neophyte in the world of MMA. The Hawaiian made his pro debut only last year. But “Da Last Samurai” been busy since then, racking up four of his six wins by submission. Smolka’s last fight was a TKO of Ale Cali in November under the Pacific Xtreme Combat banner.
UFC Fight Night at Gwinnett Center in Duluth will be headlined by a middleweight contender fight between former Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold and Costas Philippou.
