Eye vs. Davis still a go for UFC 170
The fight between Jessica Eye and Alexis Davis scheduled for UFC 170 will happen as planned according to representatives from both fighter's camps, confirming the news to FOX Sports on Monday.
Eye is currently on one-year probation stemming from a failed drug test result following her last fight against Sarah Kaufman at UFC 166, but she is not under any kind of suspension that would prevent her from competing on Feb 22. In fact, the probation period is set up only to ensure that she pays the fine that was levied against her as well as precaution if she has any other infractions during this time.
Eye has still not spoken about the incident, but has promised to come forth with details in due time. Her manager, Greg Kalikas did confirm that Eye is still in the fight and training for a Feb 22 showdown. Eye also confirmed the information via Twitter.
I PROMISE YOU I AM NOT SUSPEND and WILL BE FIGHTING FEB 22 as scheduled !! @UFC don't believe everything you read online !— Jessica Eye (@jessicaevileye) February 3, 2014
Meanwhile, Davis and her management team have been informed that Eye is still her opponent for the UFC 170 fight card and she's continuing her preparation for the bout as scheduled.
I've been told everything is still a go! You can still expect @jessicaevileye & myself to face off Feb 22nd @ UFC170— Alexis Davis (@AlexisDavisMMA) February 4, 2014
