Ed Herman slams home vicious knee strike to finish Tim Boetsch
Ed Herman had never competed at light heavyweight in the UFC prior to Sunday but the experiment paid off as he landed a highlight reel knee strike to put away Tim Boetsch in the second round.
Both Herman and Boetsch actually bumped up from middleweight to accept the spot on the Boston card and the veteran fighters didn't disappoint with their performances.
In the early going, Boetsch was head hunting with punches as he landed a couple of hard shots that rattled Herman but didn't quite put him down.

While Herman had a reach advantage over Boetsch, it was actually the clinch game and using his dirty boxing that brought the former "Ultimate Fighter" season 3 competitor back into the fight.
Herman locked his hands behind Boetsch's head as he started looking for strikes on the inside before unloading the fight finishing knee.
Herman yanked his opponent's head down as he jumped up with one knee and it landed flush and Boetsch just crumbled to the mat. Herman followed him to the ground for a couple of extra punches but the fight was clearly over as the referee swooped in to stop the action.
Following the victory, Herman said his days cutting down to 185 pounds are officially over as he plans to restart a new phase of his career as a light heavyweight. Judging by his performance on Sunday, he's off to a good start.
