Dariush injured, Taisumov named replacement to face Wade
Beneil Dariush suffered an injury in training and has been forced out of his upcoming fight against Mairbek Taisumov at FS1 UFC Fight Night in Boston on Jan. 17.
Chris Wade will now step in to accept the matchup against Taisumov.
UFC officials confirmed the news to FOX Sports on Thursday.
There's no word on the nature of the injury suffered by Dariush, but it was significant enough that he will be unable to fight in January.
Dariush is considered one of the top prospects in the lightweight division following five consecutive wins in a row including a split-decision victory over Michael Johnson in his last trip to the Octagon.
Wade steps into the fight following two consecutive wins to start his UFC career. Most recently, Wade defeated Christos Giagos by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night in New Orleans this past June.
He will have a tough test in Taisumov, who has looked extremely impressive lately winning his last three fights in a row while finishing all of his opponents by knockout or TKO.
