Conor McGregor: 'I am not a company man, I am the company'
UFC interim featherweight champion Conor McGregor left Ireland on Sunday to finish his training camp in the United States for what he's predicting will be a monstrous show when he faces Jose Aldo in the main event of UFC 194 on Dec. 12.
McGregor took to Instagram on Sunday where he mentioned leaving for the United States before predicting some gaudy numbers ahead of his next fight.
"Leaving Ireland today for the West Coast," McGregor wrote. "To unify my belt and spearhead the unprecedented $90-100million dollar UFC 194 event.
"This event along with UFC 189 putting me at close to $200 million dollars in revenue generated for this company. All in less than 6 months. I am not a company man. I am the company."
McGregor just recently mentioned on an episode of "The Ultimate Fighter" that his last fight against Chad Mendes at UFC 189 pulled in somewhere in the neighborhood of $60 million to $70 million.
The UFC doesn't actually release any figures like that from the card, but UFC 189 and UFC 194 are both expected to be two of the biggest and highest-grossing events for 2015 alongside UFC 190 and UFC 193, featuring Ronda Rousey in the main event.
A win for McGregor against Aldo in December could potentially lead to another massive payday for the Irishman in 2016.
UFC president Dana White has stated several times that if McGregor is successful at UFC 194 then he will defend the featherweight title at Croke Park in Ireland, which holds somewhere around 90,000 fans. With that kind of attendance it could end up being one of the biggest shows in UFC history.
First things first, McGregor has to get past Aldo at UFC 194 to claim the title and become only the second ever undisputed featherweight champion in company history.
