C.B. Dollaway crushes Cezar Ferreira in first-round KO
From the beginning of his time with the UFC, C.B. Dollaway has always been one of those enigmatic talents. From losing to Amir Sadollah in the finals of The Ultimate Fighter to a three-fight win streak to an unexpected loss to Jared Hamman, Dollaway's inconsistency has always come as something of a mystery.
During Sunday night's UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Hendo II co-main event, Dollaway flashed the promise that once made him a prospect to watch.
Dollaway showed off new boxing skills, knocking out Cezar "Mutante" Ferreira in just 39 seconds.
The end came during a dual barrage of firepower. With Ferreira attempting to swarm him with strikes against the fence, Dollaway leaned away from the onslaught and then popped him with an overhand right followed by a left hook. The latter punch put Ferreira on his backside, and Dollaway closed the bout with a series of ground strikes.
"My standup game is developing," he said, citing a new boxing coach in his corner. "I believe we're going to make our way into the top 10 this year and become a real contender."
Dollaway has now won three out of his last four in improving to 14-4. He did, however, leave with a concern that he'd injured his right hand, which he said was swelling up in the aftermath of the bout. Results on that were not immediately available.
Meanwhile, Ferreira lost for the first time in the UFC. The TUF Brazil season one middleweight winner fel to 7-3.
