Wawrinka into Chennai Open quarters

Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland advanced to the quarterfinals of the Chennai Open with a 6-3, 6-4 win Thursday over Michael Russel of the United States.

Wawrinka will face Michael Berrer of Germany, who ousted Stephane Robert of France 7-6 (7), 6-3.

Lukas Lacko defeated American Robby Ginepri 7-6 (3), 6-4. Lacko will play Dudi Sela of Israel in the quarterfinals. Sela defeated Kevin Kim of the United States 7-6 (3), 6-2.
