Switzerland's tennis federation has picked Geneva over Roger Federer's hometown Basel to host a Davis Cup match against the Czech Republic in February.
Swiss Tennis President Rene Stammbach says Geneva was the less risky option, and that Federer is unlikely to confirm before the end of the year if he will play.
The Feb. 1-3 first-round match is scheduled days after the Australian Open ends.
The federation says Swiss No. 2 Stanislas Wawrinka, who comes from the canton (state) neighboring Geneva, has said he will play.

Swiss Tennis says a 5,500-capacity indoor arena at the Palexpo center will host the match. The court surface has not yet been chosen.
