Steffi Graf congratulates Serena Williams on #22: 'Such a gift to all sports fans'
Serena Williams won the women's singles event at Wimbledon to earn her 22nd Grand Slam title on Saturday.
The win has pulled Williams even with Steffi Graf for the most major championships in the Open era (and within sight of Margaret Court's all-time mark of 24).
And the German former tennis champ (and Andre Agassi's better half) could not have been more gracious to share this distinction.
"What an incredible performance by Serena at Wimbledon!" Graf posted on her Facebook account. "Such a gift to all sport fans who get to continue to watch her add to an already amazing career #22!!!"
Graf also gave a shout-out to fellow German Angelique Kerber for her valiant effort, "making Germany so proud with her talent and fighting spirit!"
Kerber also posted congratulations to the newly-crowned champ:
Big congrats to @serenawilliams!!! Thank you for your support that makes this so special! #Wimbledon #TeamAngie pic.twitter.com/EBszdtoQrp

Of course, Kerber was on the other side of the fence when she beat Williams to win the Australian Open title in January.
