Raonic upsets Lu at SA Tennis Open
Canadian Milos Raonic, who reached the round of 16 in a surprise run at the Australian Open, continued his hot start to the season by upsetting second-seeded Yen-hsun Lu of Taiwan 6-3, 6-3 on Tuesday in the first round of the SA Tennis Open.
The 20-year-old Raonic, who lost to David Ferrer in four sets in Melbourne, had 14 aces and converted all three break points against the 37th-ranked Lu. Raonic's ranking rose to a career-high No. 94 after his Australian Open performance.
Also Tuesday, unseeded Dustin Brown of Germany used 15 aces to help defeat fifth-seeded Florent Serra 6-4, 6-4 in 54 minutes. Eighth-seeded Michal Przysiezny defeated Martin Fischer 6-1, 6-2.
Kevin Anderson of South Africa rallied for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 win Tuesday over Stephane Bohli of Switzerland in a rain-interrupted match. Anderson saved six of seven break points in the match.
More rain forced tournament officials to call off play, delaying top-seeded Feliciano Lopez's match against Frank Dancevic until Wednesday.
