The title marks Carreno Busta’s second of his career. The young Spaniard is wrapping up a 2016 season that might be his best yet. Carreno Busta looked comfortable on the courts in Moscow. At just 25 years of age, the young Spaniard will without a doubt have more singles titles under his belt in the upcoming seasons.
After dropping the first set to the veteran Fognini, Carreno Busta’s resilient play brought him back to close out the match with ease. The young Spaniard noted how special the win at Moscow was after the match.
“When you win your first title, it’s a really special one but this one is special also. In both finals, I lost the first set. But then I continued fighting and I continued believing in myself, and at the end, I won the match and the tournament.”
Look for Carreno Busta to continue his strong play in the final weeks of the 2016 season. He is not a player to take for granted. Carreno Busta is currently ranked 36 in the world and the win at Moscow will improve his ranking.
