Muster's comeback opponent pulls out

Published Oct. 25, 2010 1:00 a.m. ET

Thomas Muster will be getting a new opponent for his comeback match at age 43 now that fifth-seeded Ernests Gulbis has pulled out.

Muster was once ranked No. 1 and will be playing his first match on the ATP tour since 1999. The Austrian had been set to play Gulbis in the Bank Austria Trophy.

But organizers said Monday the 24th-ranked Latvian withdrew for ''personal reasons'' and will be replaced by lucky loser Andreas Haider-Maurer of Austria.

Muster won the French Open in 1995 and reached the top ranking the next year. He returned to the second-tier Challenger circuit in June but won just once in seven matches.
