James Blake: Police watchdog substantiates force complaint
NEW YORK (AP) Former pro tennis player James Blake says New York City's police watchdog has substantiated his complaint against officers involved in tackling and mistakenly arresting him.
Blake filed a complaint with the Civilian Complaint Review Board against Officers James Frascatore and Daniel Herzog, alleging they used excessive force and abused their power.
The police union hasn't responded to a request for comment made Wednesday.
Surveillance video from a Manhattan hotel showed Frascatore charging at Blake on Sept. 9 before grabbing him by the arm and taking him to the ground. Frascatore has been put on desk duty.
Mayor Bill de Blasio (dih BLAH'-zee-oh) and police Commissioner William Bratton have apologized to Blake, who retired after the 2013 U.S. Open.
Blake has said Frascatore should lose his job. The police union boss has said the officer ''did a professional job.''
