Iranian tennis player banned for clenbuterol

An Iranian Davis Cup tennis player has been suspended for two years after testing positive for the banned drug clenbuterol.

The International Tennis Federation says Mohammed Mohazebnia tested positive during a Davis Cup Asia/Oceania zone group match in Tehran on May 2.

The ITF says the 28-year-old player has been suspended until June 2012 and that the ruling was made by Iran's national anti-doping body.

Clenbuterol is the same drug that three-time Tour de France champion Alberto Contador tested positive for during this year's race. The Spaniard, who has been provisionally suspended by cycling's governing body, blames the positive result on contaminated beef.
