India wins Davis Cup tie against Brazil
India has won both reverse singles matches on Sunday to complete victory over Brazil in the Davis Cup world group playoff.
India lost both singles on the opening day, but remained in contention by winning the doubles on Saturday through the experienced pair of Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi.
India's top singles player, Somdev Devvarman, brought India level on the final day when his opponent, Thomas Bellucci, retired in the second set due to dehydration.
Bellucci, the highest ranked player in the tie at 27, had been involved in a tough five-setter on the opening day against Rohan Bopanna.
In the deciding encounter, Bopanna fired seven aces in a straight-sets victory over Ricardo Mello.
