GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) A commanding performance from Great Britain's Andy Murray ensured that its Davis cup semi against Argentina will go to the deciding match on Sunday.
The tie is finely poised at 2-2, after Murray, who appeared to strain a muscle in the third set, breezed past Argentina's Guido Pella in straight sets in front of a partisan crowd in Glasgow, winning 6-3, 6-2, 6-3.
''It is great to level the tie,'' Murray said. ''We were in lot of trouble a couple of days ago but this is the best we could have hoped for.''
Juan Martin del Potro was due to play Argentina's final match, but in a surprise move from captain Daniel Orsanic, it is Leonardo Mayer who will play the decider against Dan Evans.
''Dan is difficult to play against. He almost beat (Stanislas) Wawrinka and if he plays at that level he has got a chance,'' Murray said.
Argentina led 2-0 after the opening round of singles matches, but now find themselves having to win the final match to progress to the tournament final.
Murray was also involved his team's doubles victory on Saturday, in which he played with his brother Jamie. They beat the team of del Potro and Mayer in four sets to trail 2-1 overnight.
Murray won his match in a dominating fashion, thoroughly outclassing his opponent in the first reverse singles.
He appeared to pull up with a thigh injury at 1-1 in the third set, and spent 5 minutes off court receiving treatment before returning.
The winner will play either France or Croatia in the final.
