Jimmy Connors released private details ths week of his relationship in the early 1970s with fellow tennis star Chris Evert.
However, Evert was unaware the comments -- which implied that Connors got Evert pregnant and that Evert had an abortion -- were going public.
Through a statement to Reuters sent by her agent Lawrence Frankopan at StarWing Sports, she said:
"In his book, Jimmy Connors has written about a time in our relationship that was very personal and emotionally painful. I am extremely disappointed that he used the book to misrepresent a private matter that took place 40 years ago and made it public, without my knowledge. I hope everyone can understand that I have no further comment."
Evert, who won 18 Grand Slam titles, dated Connors -- winner of eight Slam titles -- during the 1970s. Both won the Wimbledon singles titles in 1974 and were due to get married later that year, when she was 19 and he was 22.
