Clijsters calls out Woodbridge over text message

A laughing Kim Clijsters chided former doubles star Todd Woodbridge at the Australian Open on Thursday over a text message in which he said he thought she was pregnant because she looked grumpy and had bigger breasts.

Woodbridge, working as an on-court TV interviewer for Australia's Seven Network, was talking to the Belgian star immediately after her 6-1 6-3 second-round win over Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro in Melbourne.

He began by asking her about her outfit, which was designed by manufacturer Fila to echo the dresses worn by Australian great Evonne Goolagong.

Woodbridge then started to ask her about a promotional video when Clijsters interrupted.

"[Australian Doubles player] Rennae Stubbs showed me a text message you sent her while I was playing in Sydney [last week] about how you thought I was pregnant," Clijsters said.

The bewildered Woodbridge asked what he had written.

"You said: 'She looks really grumpy and her boobs are bigger,'" Clijsters responded to roars of laughter from the Rod Laver Arena crowd.

"Thanks very much, there goes my TV career," a mortified Woodbridge said, before a smiling Clijsters gave him a hug.

"Aussie Kim" Clijsters is immensely popular in Australia, an affection that began when she was engaged to local star Lleyton Hewitt and which has endured long after their break-up.
