Blake turns back clock with US Open 2nd-round win

James Blake doesn't appear to be going away anytime soon.

Shortly after his good friend Andy Roddick announced his impending retirement, the 32-year-old Blake reached the third round at a Grand Slam event for the first time since 2010 with a dominant victory over 24th-seeded Marcel Granollers. Blake needed just 97 minutes to win 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 at the U.S. Open on Thursday.

Roddick said he didn't tell Blake ahead of time, not wanting to distract him before a match, but Blake saw the news conference on TV right before stepping on court.

Blake needed a wild card to get into the Open after his ranking fell outside the top 100.
