Zenga out as Al Nasr manager

Walter Zenga has been sacked as manager of the United Arab Emirates club Al Nasr after a disappointing season in which the club finished sixth in the domestic league.

Zenga, a former Italian goalkeeper who coached Italian clubs Palermo and Catania before moving to the UAE in 2011, had been among the most colorful managers in the league. He sparred with reporters and referees and was at one fined for calling a reporter's question ''stupid.''

The club announced Sunday that Zenga was fired with one year left on his contract.

The National reported the club is considering three candidates and will decide on a replacement this month. The club's technical director, former England manger Sven-Goran Eriksson, is not believed to be among them.
