When at Aston Villa, Young initially struggled to reproduce his club form for England, but has looked at ease in recent games and netted the winner against Wales in last night's Euro 2012 qualifier at Wembley. And he is brimming with confidence after his fine start to the season with United following his £16 million summer move from Aston Villa. Now he is looking to build on the instant rapport he has developed with Rooney. Young said: "You build up relationships when you are at a club. "The way Wayne has started, and the way the club have started, we've done really well. "As long as we continue that partnership at Manchester United, I'm sure it will bode well for us with England." Young has never lacked self belief and is targeting a 20th Barclays Premier League title for United, as well as relishing the prospect of playing Champions League football. He said: "It is the world's biggest club. The chance to play in big competitions, going for league honours and the Champions League, is any boy's dream. "I've got the confidence that I can play in those competitions. "You look at the history of the club. It is the biggest club in the world. "When I heard of the interest, I just wanted to sign straight away, get involved with the team. They won 19 league titles. Hopefully it will be the 20th this season. "It has been easy to settle in there. I've been welcomed with open arms by the boys. "You get to know them before when you play for England and you get to know the style of play and I feel at home." Young has shown his versatility for England and United by operating on either flank and as the second striker. Such adaptability is valued by managers and Young is happy to occupy any role that comes his way, "I've got no preference where I play as long as I'm in the team whether it's left, right or in the centre," he said. "I've got confidence in myself to play in any position. "With England, I'm just trying to cement myself in my team. I set out my stall to be in the starting 11 and in the last two games I've done that. "I've got to continue to play well for Man Utd and continue with the confidence with which I've started the season and hopefully, when we next meet up, I'll be in the starting 11 again. "The manager has picked me, he can see I'm versatile to play in any of those positions and I'll give 110 per cent whether I put on an England or a Manchester United shirt." Like Young, Stewart Downing left Villa in the summer, in his case for Liverpool, and has also impressed for his country, setting up Young's goal against the Welsh. "Stewart has done really with his start for Liverpool. In the last two games, he has done really well again, setting me up and setting up Wayne the other night (in Bulgaria)," Young added. "But I think everyone is playing with a lot of confidence."
