Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez hopes to play for Spain at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The 30-year-old Xavi says "my hope and goal is to be there" to help Spain defend the world title it won in July in South Africa.

Xavi was named best player in helping guide Spain to the European Championship title in 2008. He also helped Barcelona to a record six major trophies in one year and is one of the favorites to win the FIFA world player of the year award.

Xavi has played less games this season as the wear of three straight years without much rest take their toll, but he tells Cadena Ser radio he is happy with his conditioning.
