Richard Wood has become Charlton's second signing of the summer after putting pen to paper on a one-year deal.

The centre-back has featured for the Addicks in four pre-season friendlies having been a free agent since leaving Coventry at the end of last season.

The Leeds-born defender captained Coventry and previous club Sheffield Wednesday, and Charlton boss Chris Powell is pleased to have the 28-year-old on board.

Powell said: "Richard's impressed during pre-season and it's good to finally get the deal done.

"He's a left-footed centre half who gives us options along the backline and we're happy to have him on board."
