Wolves clash vital - Martinez
December 26 looks set to be an important day at the bottom of the Premier League, with Fulham, who lie 17th in the table, hosting 20th-placed West Ham in a midday kick-off. Wigan and Wolves - currently sitting between the two London sides in 18th and 19th respectively - then meet at Molineux, a contest where Martinez admits the stakes will be high. The Spaniard does not, however, believe that defeat would spell disaster for his team. "We have 21 games left in the league, so I don't think it would be realistic to say that you cannot lose this game," Martinez said. "What is quite clear is that it is a more than important game - it is really significant because of what it means. "It is a direct confrontation between two clubs who at the moment are sharing a similar position in the table, and that makes it a special encounter. "But we know we need to be successful over the next four months. It is not about one game - it is making sure that over the second half of the campaign, we are as strong as we can be. "You always look at these games as important games, though, because it is more than points. "You are working for that psychological advantage and it is a game where you have to take it as a final." Both Wigan and Wolves had their scheduled matches postponed last weekend due to the freezing conditions, but asked if he was worried this game might also fall victim to the weather, Martinez said: "No, because the forecast is quite clear - there is not going to be any snow. I just think we are prepared for this. "The last weekend was a real shock. On Friday night you go home preparing for the game and all of a sudden you get a real surprise with the weather. "But now everyone is expecting the temperatures we can expect and I just feel that the game is going to be on." Martinez revealed that the squad's training had not been hampered by the elements, describing their preparation for the Wolves match as "perfect". He said: "You need to adapt to the amount of snow that we have had, but in terms of being able to carry on with our training programme, we have been very fortunate in that respect. "We have got indoor facilities, we have been able to use the Astroturf and our staff at the stadium have worked extremely well to allow us to have a session there. "It has helped us to have the perfect preparation for the Wolves game." Tom Cleverley could return to the Latics side having recovered from a rib injury he sustained in the goalless draw at Everton earlier this month. Cleverley, who is on a season-long loan from Manchester United, had been in impressive form and scored in both of Wigan's two league games prior to the match at Goodison Park. Reports have suggested that Sir Alex Ferguson could recall the 21-year-old midfielder to Old Trafford in January, but Martinez insists he is not overly concerned about the matter. "Every loan player has got that call-back clause in their deal or agreement and I don't think that is something you have to be worried about, because you can't do anything about it," Martinez said. "I'm very happy with the manner Tom has settled in and he has adopted a very important role within the squad at a very young age. "I'm pleased that is the case, because then Manchester United will be very happy with Tom's progression, and I'm sure they will be happy to see that until the end of the season. But that is not something that is in our hands. "All I want is for Tom to focus in the next two games, making sure he carries on being as influential as he has been. It is not a real worry to think about what could happen."
