Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham remain in the bottom two of the Premier League standings after a 1-1 draw at Molineux.

A mistake by Rob Green allowed Wolves to take the lead after 10 minutes. The West Ham goalkeeper's weak clearance went straight to Matt Jarvis, who volleyed in.

Mark Noble leveled from the penalty spot on 53 minutes after Victor Obinna was brought down by Kevin Foley.

The result means both clubs have six points after eight games, with West Ham bottom on goal difference, but the Hammers thought they should have snatched all three points.

Frederic Piquionne burst through in the fourth minute of injury time and slotted past Marcus Hahnemann, but referee Mark Clattenburg disallowed the goal for handball and booked the striker.

Wolves had the better of the first half, and Mick McCarthy's side might rue not making the most of its chances. David Jones had two good opportunities either side of Jarvis's goal: one went wide, the other was pushed away by a diving Green.

But once Foley's clumsy foul on Obinna allowed West Ham to equalize early in the second half, the game became more even as both sides went in search of a potentially crucial win.

Another unconvincing punch by Green went to Jones, whose effort was blocked, while at the other end, Piquionne struck the bar for West Ham before his late disallowed effort left the visiting fans feeling aggrieved.
