Wolfsburg has signed defenders Sotirios Kyrgiakos from Liverpool and Hrvoje Cale from Trabzonspor and is set to sign Chris, a Brazilian defender previously with Eintracht Frankfurt and now without a club.
Coach Felix Magath is keen to bolster his defense following his team's 4-1 loss at Borussia Moenchengladbach on Friday in the Bundesliga.
Kyrgiakos signed a two-year contract and Cale until 2014.
Chris played little for Frankfurt last season because of a back injury. The club was relegated. Kyrgiakos also played two seasons for Frankfurt before moving to Liverpool.
