Wigan is close to signing Ali Al Habsi from Bolton after the Oman goalkeeper spent last season on loan from its Premier League rival.
Al Habsi failed to oust Jussi Jaaskelainen from the team at Bolton but started 34 of Wigan's 38 Premier League matches to help the northwest England team narrowly avoid relegation.
Bolton manager Owen Coyle says ''we could easily have kept him but I have to be fair to Ali.''
