The Vancouver Whitecaps secured a 1-1 away draw at Chivas in Major League Soccer on Wednesday, in Tom Soehn's first game as coach.

Former D.C. United coach Soehn took the reins after Teitur Tudjohnsen was fired by the first-year MLS club, which won its opening match but has since gone 12 games without a victory.

Chivas opened the scoring in the first minute of the second half when Nick LaBrocca scored from 25 yards, but the Whitecaps replied almost immediately when Brazilian winger Camilo Sanvezzo curled a shot home.

Vancouver played the final 23 minutes a man short after forward Eric Hassli was sent off for a reckless tackle on Ben Zemanski. It was the French striker's third red card of the season.
