West Bromwich Albion will be without its captain Chris Brunt for up to 10 weeks after scans revealed the midfielder fractured his right ankle in the loss to Everton on Sunday.

The Northern Ireland international fell awkwardly during second-half stoppage time in West Brom's 1-0 defeat at the Hawthorns and had to be helped off the pitch.

Brunt will undergo surgery on Friday and will be out for ''between eight and 10 weeks,'' depriving the team of one of its most influential players for at least seven Premier League games.

West Brom is 15th in the 20-team standings, six points clear of the relegation zone.
