Welbeck came off the bench for the Black Cats on Saturday as they held Arsenal to a 0-0 draw at the Emirates Stadium. That outing represented the 20-year-old's first since suffering a torn cartilage in a 1-0 win at Aston Villa back in January. He admits to having been left frustrated by his spell on the sidelines, but is determined to make up for lost time. "I'm delighted to be back," said Welbeck. "It's been about two months since I've played a game so just to get back out on the pitch is a big boost for me." He added: "It's always frustrating to get injured, but I wasn't going to sit at home and dwell on it. I took it as a positive and focused my mind on getting fit. "I want to get a lot more training sessions under my belt, and hopefully I'll be up to full match fitness." Welbeck spent much of his rehabilitation back at parent club Manchester United, but admits he kept up to date with goings on at the Stadium of Light by attending a number of Sunderland's home games. He said: "I'm always a fan, I love football really, so any game I'll watch and you can learn from any match whatever level it is. "Just watching games, taking them as a positive, and seeing what you can gain from them is always beneficial."
