Welbeck eager to move on
United were bundled out of a tournament they have reached the final in three out of the last four years by Basle on Wednesday. It was a shock defeat that could cost the Old Trafford outfit £20million in lost revenue in addition to the prestige that comes attached with it. But, as he prepares to face Wolves in the Premier League tomorrow, Welbeck feels it would be counter-productive to spend too much time wondering what went wrong. "Manchester United are expected to qualify and we haven't," Welbeck told www.manutd.com. "It's tough but we don't want to dwell on it. "You have to turn the situation into a positive. We have to move forward and the best way to do that is to learn from it and try and get better as a team." The European failure is a pretty significant blot on what has otherwise been an excellent year for Welbeck. He seized the opportunity offered by a loan spell at Sunderland, won his first international cap against Ghana in March and is now regarded as a decent bet to make Fabio Capello's Euro 2012 squad next summer. However, Welbeck recognises the hard work has only just started if he is to fulfil his potential. "It's been a great year [for me]," said Welbeck, who celebrated his 21st birthday last month. "My time at Sunderland was the making of me. "I got my England call-up and then I came back to United and started quite a few games. But I don't want to stop there, I want to carry on." "Everyone is hungry for success here and it's a great environment to be in."
