NEWCASTLE, England (AP) Newcastle's early-season troubles deepened Saturday with a 2-1 Premier League loss to promoted Watford that is likely to increase pressure on manager Steve McClaren.

Odion Ighalo took advantage of poor defending to score twice for Watford in the opening 28 minutes and put the visitors in control. Daryl Janmaat reduced the deficit in the 62nd with Newcastle's first league goal in five games, but the team is still without a win this campaign. With two points, the Magpies are only ahead of last-place Sunderland on goal difference, and McClaren's side was booed off at halftime.

Janmaat had a chance to equalize in the 67th but Heurelho Gomes dived at full stretch to keep out his hard shot.
