Fiorentina has fired Sinisa Mihajlovic and hired Delio Rossi as its new manager after winning just three of its opening 10 matches.

The club says on its website that Rossi agreed to a deal through to 2012-13.

Aiming to qualify for the Europa League with a top-five finish, Fiorentina currently lies 12th in Serie A, nine points behind leader Juventus and just four points above the relegation zone.

Mihajlovic led Fiorentina to a ninth-place finish last season in his first year in charge.

His tenure was marked by a series of injuries. Key playmaker Stevan Jovetic missed all of last season following knee surgery and center forward Alberto Gilardino recently returned from a month out, also due to a knee injury.

Rossi formerly managed Lazio and Palermo.
