Villa boss McLeish is feeling no jealousy over the funds his QPR counterpart Mark Hughes has had to spend ahead of the game.
Wednesday night sees QPR visit Villa Park, fresh from bringing in strikers Djibril Cisse and Bobby Zamora to provide added firepower for a team who have struggled in that department at times.
Hughes has been backed in the transfer market by QPR's owners since his appointment as Neil Warnock's successor last month, also recruiting Federico Macheda, Taye Taiwo, Nedum Onuoha and Samba Diakite.
McLeish has been able to bring Robbie Keane to Villa on a short-term loan, but he was otherwise quiet in January's transfer window.
He is trusting his summer wing recruit, N'Zogbia, will return to the consistent form which made him such a menace to Premier League defences in his Wigan and Newcastle days.
N'Zogbia has shown in flashes why McLeish spent a reported £9.5million to lure him as a replacement for Stewart Downing, but the former Scotland boss knows there is more to come.
N'Zogbia, 25, may return to the Villa side on Wednesday night after a heel injury.
And McLeish said: "We are looking for big things from Charles in a Villa shirt for this season and beyond.
"In the Chelsea game (when Villa won at Stamford Bridge), he was tremendous; running at their back four and for Stephen Ireland's equaliser and in general he played a good team game as well as his attacking skills.
"I've not sat him down and asked him but he knows the standards that are expected. He's aware the Villa fans are looking for 9/10 and 10/10 from the players that make the difference and Charles is one of those who can make a difference.
"I'm sure he is very determined as an individual to make his mark at Aston Villa.
"Charles is capable of greater things; there is no doubt about that. I am sure he will show everybody at this club what he can do. Goals and assists were his trademark at Wigan and at Newcastle and that should be evidence for Charles that he has that in his locker."
Villa stand in mid-table, seven points clear of a QPR side who have slipped down the league in recent months.
Hughes will be expected by many supporters to lift QPR comfortably clear of trouble.
McLeish said: "He's getting a few bob to spend straight away and that will help him stamp his identity on the team.
"I'm not jealous of him when you know the parameters. I've been in this situation many times before and when it is not in your control there is no point in being jealous or worrying about it. It's about getting the best out of players we have and we have some very good players."
