Villa double sends Tigres clear at top

Emanuel Villa hit both goals as Tigres went three points clear at the Mexican Clausura summit with a 2-1 win at Cruz Azul.

Villa netted in the seventh and 26th minutes, with Christian Gimenez scoring for the hosts just before the hour mark.

Atlas are second, three points short after a 0-0 draw at Queretaro.

Tijuana are up to fourth following a 2-0 defeat of Atlante.

Raul Enriquez scored the first after just two minutes and Duvier Riascos added a second after the break.

Monterrey enjoyed a 3-0 success over Puebla, with Aldo De Nigris scoring in each half.

Humberto Suazo converted a 55th-minute penalty following Michael Orozco's red card.

In the remaining fixture two goals in three minutes just after the restart from Robin Ramirez and Javier Cortes gave Unam Pumas a 2-0 win at San Luis.

On Friday, Club America missed the chance to go top of the Mexican Clausura after they were defeated 1-0 at Santos Laguna.

Carlos Quintero's 19th-minute goal proved enough to secure the points.

In the day's other game Morelia defeated Pachuca 3-2 thanks to a Hector Mancilla double.

Jefferson Montero put the hosts ahead after seven minutes before Abraham Carreno levelled matters in the 29th minute.

Mancilla then scored a 34th-minute penalty and another 20 minutes from time before Angel Reyna scored Pachuca's second.
