Captain Mark van Bommel is the latest player to pull out of the Netherlands team for Friday's European Championship qualifier against Hungary.
The AC Milan midfielder has a right thigh injury and does not expect to be fit for the match in Budapest.
The Dutch Football Association says on Wednesday that Van Bommel is hoping to be fit for the return match next Tuesday in Amsterdam.
Van Bommel joins a Dutch injured list including goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg, winger Arjen Robben and striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar, the top scorer in European Championship qualifiers with eight goals in four matches.
