Uzbekistan beat 10-man Tajikistan 3-0 in a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

Uzbekistan dominated the game, in which Tajikistan was reduced to 10 men only with three minutes left when Eraj Rajabov was sent off for a foul against Alexander Geynrikh.

Sanjar Tursunov opened the scoring in the 34th minute, Odil Akhmedov hit the target from 35 meters in the 60th, and Geynrikh headed in a cross from the right in the 72nd.

Tajikistan goalkeeper Alisher Tuychiev made numerous saves and blocked Akhmedov's powerful low drive from 40 meters in the 34th.

Geynrikh had a goal disallowed for offside in injury time.

The victory put Uzbekistan on top of Asia Group C with 13 points, three ahead of second-place Japan, which lost 1-0 to North Korea. Japan and Uzbekistan have already advanced to the next round of Asia qualifying.

Tajikistan, which reached the qualification phase only after Syria was barred by FIFA for illegally fielding a player, has no points and is yet to score.

Uzbekistan will travel to Japan on Feb. 29, while Tajikistan will play in North Korea.
