Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has no intention of retiring at the end of the Premier League season.

Several British papers reported recently that the 68-year-old Ferguson was going to step down after 24 years in charge at Old Trafford, but the country's most successful manager said Friday that he had not contemplated it.

``It is rubbish,'' Ferguson said. ``There is no truth in it.''

Ferguson initially announced his intention to retire at the end of the 2001-02 season, when his team was also chasing a record fourth straight Premier League title.

But he changed his mind following a slump by his team and has since led the club to another four league titles to tie Liverpool with a record 18.

Following that experience, Ferguson says that he would not reveal any plans to voluntarily quit to anyone but the chief executive and club owners.

``I have no intention of retiring and if I did the people I would tell are David Gill and the Glazer family,'' Ferguson said.
