Tunisia defender Ammar Jemal has joined Cologne on a season-long loan from Swiss club Young Boys.
Young Boys said on its website Tuesday that the Bundesliga club has an option to buy the 24-year-old Jemal at the end of the season.
Jemal joined Young Boys in 2010 from Etoile du Sahel but failed to settle in Switzerland.
Cologne confirmed the deal on its website, saying Jemal would wear the No. 3 jersey.

''With Jemal we've gained another valuable alternative for the defense,'' Cologne sports director Volker Finke said. ''Jemal can play on the left or in central defense.''
Jemal scored seven goals in 39 appearances for Young Boys and has played 15 times for Tunisia.
