Tranmere pay the penalty

The visitors scored the crucial goal from the penalty spot on 21 minutes after Lucas Akins needlessly tripped Sido Jombati. Darryl Duffy gave keeper Owain Fon Williams no chance with a fine strike into the top left corner. Tranmere almost levelled five minutes later but Ash Taylor's header from Adam McGurk's free kick shaved the outside of a post. Scott Brown in the Town goal did well to turn aside Andy Robinson's free kick soon after the break but little went right for the Merseysiders. They made a double substitution on 63 minutes with Enoch Showunmi and Martin Devaney joining the action followed by Joss Labadie 10 minutes later. But the visitors stood firm and nearly got a second goal on 77 minutes with David Buchanan kicking off the line from Russell Penn.
