Toffees 'finalizing' Donovan deal
Everton chief David Moyes faces competition from a number of clubs to sign USA international striker Landon Donovan on a short-term loan. The Toffees went public with their interest in the LA Galaxy forward on Thursday and manager David Moyes has confirmed negotiations were taking place. LA Galaxy, however, have said the Merseysiders are not the only club interested in the 27-year-old. "We are aware of Everton's interest in Landon Donovan as they are one of a number of clubs who have contacted the Galaxy about the possibility of a short-term loan agreement," said an LA Galaxy statement. "The Galaxy, MLS and Landon's representative will work together to determine if and whether an arrangement with Everton or any other club would be beneficial to all parties." Everton are hoping to utilise a similar agreement Donovan's Galaxy teammate David Beckham has with AC Milan, who he is joining in January on a short-term deal during the MLS close season. "I can't tell you too much just now because we are just finalising things but I think we will be able to confirm it one way or another in the next week or two," said Moyes. "I'd rather talk about him in a couple of weeks and not at this present time in case I don't get him."
