Tito Vilanova: Barcelona's won't overhaul squad

For Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova, the poor performance against Bayern Munich in the Champions League semifinals won't lead to a major overhaul of his squad.

Vilanova said there will be reinforcements to the squad in the offseason but there won't be major changes to the club's plans.

''I understand the reproaches (by fans), but my idea for the squad and the players for next season hasn't changed,'' Vilanova said on Saturday. ''I don't doubt these players who I know so well and have given us so much. There won't be a revolution.''

Barcelona was dismantled 7-0 across both legs by Bayern in the semifinals, the most lopsided score at that stage in the history of the competition.

Vilanova pointed to the club's history to justify keeping the team together, noting that Barcelona's 4-0 loss to AC Milan in the 1994 European Cup final marked the end of the so-called ''Dream Team.''

''That result led to several changes (in the squad), and the subsequent years were even worse,'' he said. ''We have a young squad, which we are going to strengthen just as we had planned.

''It's difficult to find players who can play here and fit into our playing style.''

Barcelona can clinch the Spanish league title this weekend if Real Madrid drops points against Valladolid on Saturday and Barcelona beats Real Betis the following day.
