Tijuana moved a point clear of Toluca at the Mexican Apertura summit on Saturday despite being held to a 1-1 draw at Morelia.

Miguel Sabah's 22nd-minute penalty earned Morelia a share of the spoils after Duvier Riascos had given the visitors a ninth-minute lead.

Toluca were level on points with Tijuana at the start of the day but went down 3-0 at Cruz Azul.

First-half goals from Gerardo Flores and Javier Aquino set the hosts on their way and Mariano Pavone's 74th-minute strike made absolutely sure of the points, which lifted Cruz Azul to fourth spot.

Elsewhere, Monterrey survived a nervy ending to edge past Santos Laguna 3-2.

Humberto Suazo opened the scoring for the hosts and, although Oribe Peralta equalised four minutes before half-time, two goals in the first 13 minutes of the second half from Cesar Delgado and Aldo De Nigris put them back in the driving seat.

Substitute Herculez Gomez reduced the deficit for the visitors in the 85th minute, but Monterrey held on for the three points which saw them climb to seventh.

Substitute Raul Meraz took less than five minutes to make his impact for Pachuca, bagging the game's only goal after his half-time introduction against Tigres Monterrey to lift his side above their opponents and up to 11th.

Finally, 15th-placed San Luis and bottom-of-the-table Queretaro battled out a goalless draw.
