Taylor keen to play his part

Taylor was overlooked by Alan Pardew for their last game in favour of Sol Campbell as they were swatted aside 4-0 by a rampant Stoke outfit. Newcastle are 11th in the table at the moment but they know they are far from safe as they are only four points above the relegation zone. The resumption of the league after the international break will see them host third from bottom Wolves next Saturday. It will be a game they will feel they should win as they bid to extinguish their own relegation fears. Taylor faces competition from Mike Williamson and Fabricio Coloccini for a starting berth in central defence, but the Academy graduate is ready to play his part when called upon. Taylor told The Chronicle: "I'm fit for selection. I'm just waiting for my chance - it's as simple as that. "Every game, you have to see what side the gaffer picks. That's all I can do. "We can't get carried away. We've got to knuckle down and take it a game at a time. "We have to be ready for a battle, because it's coming towards the end of the season. "It's going to be tough against Wolves. They're getting some good results, and we can't treat them lightly, even though it's at St James' Park. "We have to sort our home form out. Hopefully, we'll be OK. "We'll take it one game at a time. All we're thinking of is getting three more points on the board."
