The centre-back will be out of contract in the summer and he has been linked with Premier League rivals Arsenal. But since Pardew arrived at St James' Park earlier in December he has made it his priority to hold talks with the 24-year-old. The pair have been in discussion and Taylor admits he is impressed with his new boss, suggesting that a contract extension may not be too far away. "It's been a difficult year for me with injuries, but it looks as if it could be finishing on a high," said Taylor in the Daily Star. He added: "I have been very impressed with the new manager. Since he came in, he has been absolutely spot-on. "Within a day or two, he sat me down in his office and made it clear he wants me to be here. It was music to my ears. "Everyone knows how much I want to stay here, so for him to say he will do everything he can for me was brilliant."
