Sunderland has suspended defender Titus Bramble during an investigation into his arrest on suspicion of sexual assault and drug possession.

The 30-year-old player has been released on bail after being detained early Wednesday in Cleveland, outside Middlesbrough.

Bramble played in Sunderland's 2-1 loss to Norwich on Monday night.

Sunderland says Bramble ''has been suspended from duties pending the outcome of a club investigation.''
