Sudan to host Egypt-Algeria WCup playoff in needed

Sudan will be the neutral venue if an African World Cup qualifying playoff match is needed between Group C rivals Egypt and Algeria. FIFA made the draw Wednesday with Egypt's choice of neighboring Sudan being selected instead of Algeria's preferred choice Tunisia. If required, the match will be played next Wednesday. Egypt and group leader Algeria play their final qualifier on Saturday in Cairo. A two-goal victory for Egypt would leave the two nations tied on points, goal difference, goals scored and head-to-head record and requiring a single playoff match. The winner in Sudan would advance to next year's World Cup in South Africa.
